popping sound during combat on Chrome/Macbook Air

Can't seem to isolate the cause, but during combat or any instance in which lots of action is going on, I get speaker popping (internal, headphone, or external). Is there anything I can change in Chrome to fix this? To improve audio quality? It sounds like the game is using software instead of hardware decoding/DSP.
I'm using:
2012 Macbook Air, 4 gig ram 1.7ghz i5/HD4000 OSX 10.8.2
Chrome Version 24.0.1312.36

An audio issue, some others (like me) experiences this too.

I also have this speaker popping on my windows 8 pc it drives me up the wall as i cant listen to the game with the music on, or even without the music at a decent volume because when there is alot of action it gets to the point that it sounds like a old record players needle being dragged across the record.
