Riddle Contest

The Contest
-I want you to come up with the coolest, most creative, or hardest riddle ever.
-Must be original, or at least one that i haven't heard before.
-Must be appropriate. Meaning that if it offends anyone or anything in anyway, you will be disqualified.
-Try not to put down other peoples entries. Be uplifting and be a good sport.
-Preferably object riddles
-Please let me or Noperly22 answer them



Ways you can get disqualified
-Bad sport
-Inappropriate work
-More than 3 entries


There will be 3 winners. (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
1st-100k
2nd-50k
3rd-35k

1. What goes up and down stairs without moving? Carpet
2. Give it food and it will live. Give it water and it will die. What is it? Fire
3. What can you catch but not throw? A Cold
4. What gets wetter the more it dries? A Towel

"The Hobbit" Riddles
What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes,
And yet never grows?

Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.

Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,

An eye in a blue face

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid,
"Eggs"

Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail never clinking.
"Fish"

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.
"Time"

P.S. You said we can do no more than three, meaning we can do three, right? Just answer and i will take one down if im mistaken

Here we go:
1) Three men were walking out one day. Then it started raining hard. They raced 4 blocks to there house. When they got in, one man didnt get his hair wet. They did not have an umbrella, or a hat. How can this be?

2) A man lives on the 10th floor of an apartment building. Every time he leaves the building, he pushes the button number 1 and goes to the bottom floor and leaves. Whenever the man comes back however, he pushes button number 7 and then gets out and walks the rest of the way up, the man does this every time. Why is this?

3) A cat went into a 50 story building, the cat jumps off, and lands on the sidewalk. The cat is not harmed at all or dead, and everything is fine. How is this possible?

Sergi and Sally where sitting in their family room one night. While Sergi was watching T.V his wife Sally was reading. All of a sudden the power went out and Sergi decided to go to bed, but Sally kept on reading. With no use of artificial light, Sally kept on reading. How?

I also changed it cause i want object riddles, like off of the new movie "The Hobbit". I will give an example in the original thread.
