Price manipulation exists within the supply/demand framework and doesn't have to be successful. If somebody keeps an item in their inventory, others don't have access to it. Attempted murder is still a felony.

Let's imagine a guy who's hoarding eight identical helmets and trying to sell them for 40 million each. Once he finally got rid of those items, the price crashed to 10 million. Eventually it'll stabilize somewhere in the middle. That was price manipulation. For a short period, the price of an item was artificially inflated, leading people to either not use or overpay for it, resulting in economic losses for those individuals.
That said, the line between price manipulation and simply selling an item for an overprice is pretty thin, and in this particular case, the original poster has overblown the issue.

You don't need ALL items to manipulate the price.

Also if there is only 8 of items any kind (gear/vanity) it is ultra rare anyway and it should be expensive if there is demand, no? Otherwise we would all be ultra rich/poor and look same and be equally strong.

I've clearly stated that the price has promptly dropped, since the market was flooded with large quantities of said item in a short period of time. If the dam breaks catastrophically, there's always a flood. There's a whole subfield called behavioral economics dedicated to studying the influence of psychological factors on the economy.

During the lvl 81 cap rusk event.
Now somehow there is not a hundred anymore.

It is not an effective market mechanism to wait three days to see if an item has been sold, let alone rely on an anonymous forum trader with anonymous, often privately made, bids to determine the price of an item. Al economy doesn't provide nearly enough information for market to be effective and safe from manipulation attempts.

I'm not here meaning to be rude or start an argument but I have some of my war friends who owned Rusk swords as well, but they've all quit the game without selling their items, those missing numbers are probably rusting in their inventory. That probably will explains the rarity. And not just rusk but most of the items in-game, this is why some auras and vanity gets inflated as well. Hoarding is also part of the game.

there is a difference between selling something more expensive and manipulating prices

having something for sale for a higher price is legal. you can decide for hm u want to sell an item

manipulating is when you lie about offers and past sales to make another person believe the item is worth more than it is
