Discuss: Maelstrom Flask / Eternal Storm Flask - Returning for Pet Rescue Event

Greetings, Legends!

Let's talk about the Maelstrom Flask:



As many of you may recall, this novelty item dropped during the Pirate Booty event. If you are not familiar, it was pretty cool: you 'use' it and it creates a big whirlpool that pulls enemies. Plus, you could craft it into a version that had a shorter range but performed multiple pulls over a period of time. Very few of these items were looted during the Pirate Booty event, few were crafted up, and even fewer of them remain in the game.

I plan to bring this item (and the crafted variant) back for the upcoming Pet Rescue event. It will still be rare - but not nearly as rare as it was during Pirate Booty. Obviously this choice will have an economic impact on the tiny handful of folks who have them... so I am letting you know here and now so that you're not shocked by the change next week when you read about it in the Pet Rescue preview thread.

Pet Rescue (returning on 3/19) is our 'pet egg event' this year and will be bringing back pet eggs of all rarities that are at least 4 months old (released prior to November 1, 2025). In addition to massive Pet Egg loot there will be some hidden treasures that require skill to reveal. Your chance to loot the Maelstrom will come from one of these hidden features.

We explicitly said that those Winter LB pets would be exclusive - and that is the case ;-)

This has nothing to do with the upcoming event, but what percentage of the caverns are filled with essences, especially Arcane and Wisp essences? One can easily traverse that map 300 times a day And not to plunder even the legendary essence

On the other hand, that item, from what little I know 'Maelstrom Flask / Eternal Storm Flask', was neither desired nor practical; a hotbar slot is very valuable, so,
My suggestion, to make that item viable, is to place it in a hotbar slot. Then, in that hotbar slot, you could select an 'equipment loadout' and use that set with the item simultaneously,
The catch is that it's a non-permanent item, so it might only be usable in events, perhaps; (I'm not sure If it was designed for future hardcore players, or future players with a closed economy in some way)

I don't think its a good idea to have them back, this new veil amulet pulls mobs in, the flask is mainly just for looks that last a few seconds in a map with 3 other people. I am unsure how it is in LB runs but I think it would be more unique to have emotes in which we can loot, craft, or unlock by completing achievements or quests.

Emotes, unique weapons or gears like the firework wands.
I have some unique ideas but the issue is auras and wisps already take up so much surface area and glow alot as it is. Jewels that offer 0 stats but have aura effects like rendtail ring, cryoheart pendant, some artifacts, glint set, banished set, and so on.

I know that this thread is about booty event's flasks but What abt winter stones. Those ones are maybe even more rare than the flasks. I ve been trying to get em and seems like there are none available.
Would you mind considering bringing them back instead during pet rescue?

There will be vendors - but the release date does matter. We've set a cut-off of November 1st, 2025 - so eggs prior to this date will be included.

What abt winter stones. Those ones are maybe even more rare than the flasks.

Seems like these would not drop outside of Winter. So I'd wait for winter.

Yes - but don't ignore the chests, crates, cages, etc. - since your total base gold is going to come from various sources.

There's also about 40% more gold if you reveal the secrets.

Bit of both, I just feel the amount of auras being pushed out is kind of insane, 1-3+ per event.

The vanity jewels would be for players looking to glow like the luxor lamp, they usually have gears for the aura effects they give, but I know people will shut the idea down due to aura and wisp availability and how much lighting goes on already.
