It's a bad news, good news situation!
I mentioned in the 2026 Letter to the Community that we're designing an immense overhaul of the Seasonal LB system. Plans include the creation of an new type of competitive character, an entirely separate economic system for these characters, and loads of content changes (mostly related to loot) that combine to create a fresh, exciting, and very new Seasonal experience.
Unfortunately this effort has exploded in size and is now way bigger (and will take a lot longer) than I had anticipated!
That's the bad news: our New Season gameplay is still a long ways off and it will not be going Live anytime soon.
The good news is: we are separating the loot content, the various game systems and feature improvements that were originally part of the 'New Season' effort so that we can bring them to you sooner! Piece-by-piece, stuff like our Character Stash feature (already Live), and an upcoming loot overhaul that includes Mythic and Arcane gear that drop from Campaign content will be prioritized for release in the very near future.
Our vision of the New Season experience involved all of these things as a massive update akin to a new Campaign / Level Cap raise... but that's not realistic.
Instead of putting it ALL off 'til who-knows-when, we'll be bringing some of the juiciest parts to you first.

Oh also, I plan on posting a separate discussion on elite timed LB difficulty and changes that we can make in the short-term to enrich competition. Should be an exciting thread for everyone.
We'll post individual updates on things like looted power items and other features as they come into focus.
