If someone downloads the game for the first time, having to continuously level all the way to 91 before they can properly experience events makes the journey to endgame unnecessarily boring. Low-level players also have very limited ways of making gold, so many new players could simply quit before ever reaching the part of the game where the real progression begins.
Endgame already has plenty of reasons to exist. You unlock more maps, better gear, more ways to farm gold, Arcanes with 4 awakening slots, and an entirely different gameplay experience. A level 91 player already has access to far more than a low-level player.
So I don’t think the answer to “what’s the point of reaching endgame?” should be “lock events to endgame.” Those are two separate issues.
Events should be accessible throughout the game, with their difficulty scaling to the player’s level. A low-level player should be able to experience the event at a level appropriate for them, while an endgame player experiences the endgame version.
That doesn’t remove the purpose of endgame at all. It simply gives players something meaningful to do while progressing toward it.
I know the message is getting a bit long, but I think it was necessary to explain the point properly.
Endgame should be the point where the game expands, not the point where the game finally starts.
I don’t think this point can be made any clearer than this.
