Not moving and following mob

How can you not move when attacking things. I always auto follow.

I think (if this is what you're talking about), try attacking while holding the analog stick in the direction you want to move (which would obviously be the opposite direction of the mob).

If your on a computer no idea but I keep my thumb on the analog stick at all times centering my thumb to stop moving
