Can I disable android tablet controls while playing?

I can't be the only person having this problem: since the game controls are directly on top of the tablet controls I keep brushing the tablet controls accidentally and getting yanked from the game and into some other program that wants my attentions. Often, by the time the game. Screen reloads, my character has been killed. How can i prevent this from happening? It is infuriating.

Oh, yes, I do have that since a short while, I never had it in the past but for some reason the last few weeks I get that almost every day.
I guess I just get clumsy at my old age, but would be nice if something like that is possible.
