Do NOT give ANYONE your phone number in game!

Hello, STS Community,

I want to inform you not to give anyone your phone number in game. Why? There is a recent scam going around.


It goes like this (EXAMPLE SCENARIO):
Scammer says: No email or password needed for a free promo code for platinum! PM me for more info!

Victim: What's this about?

Scammer: Just give me your number and I will text you from my generator. My generator will tell you a code # which you will need to tell me so I can give you a promo code for 500 platinum.

Victim: Okay!




Many children may think this: "What can go wrong!?"

Dear naive, the scammer can BILL your phone through text message. Here is some evidence. I was playing the part of the victim in this scenario but did not fall for it because I was trying to predict how he would execute the scam. Unfortunately, people have already fell for it and have lost $50 or more.






P.S: When I mean ANYONE, it is ANYONE.

Friends can bill other people's phones with this method. So please, be wary of who you trust online.

Yes. This is a method of payment used very rarely, but the scammer can charge any amount he wants. So far, this guy has scammed 3 people. The losses were from $20-50. They could have just bought platinum with that amount.

Also, a scammer can not bill you if they do not have the code texted from the random generator (which can only be obtained by you giving it to them or replying to the generator in a specific fashion).
