If you decide to spam skills, then sure, bears do suck.
But as a bear you should think about control. Which is my absolute favorite thing about bears. You control where you want your enemies to go. Think strategically.
If it wasn't for beckon, half of the skills used by other classes would be way worse. You group beckon to the wall, run around, stomp, and everyone else can use their skills to where it'll hit all of the enemies rather than some if they were scattered around.

On the rage subject... I have no idea what you're talking about. Bosses always attack me.

Bears are awesome. They can survive, deal alot of damage, and have control.

It's slighly weaker than the Bear's beckon, but still useful ofc.

each has it's place, the bear just kinda overlaps into other classes' areas, primarily due to rage

If played well, the bear can be a solid and very useful team member. However if played poorly, the bear is one of the worst classes in the game.

As troncaat said above, playing the bear effectively is all about control. If you have no self control over your skills and spam them incessantly youʻll more than likely end up getting your self killed or booted and worse yet, others killed because of your ignorance. On the other hand, if you time your beckon perfectly and stomp your enemies into a wall your DPS loving friends can vaporize them while you run merrily off in to the distance ahead of the group to create yet another mob sandwich for the rest of your party. In the instance I illustrated above, everyone has a good time and maps fly by. I feel as if the importance of bears was most prevalent during sewers, as an effective bear could help reduce the time to run a map from 5-8 minutes down to 2-3.

As youʻll learn through playing the bear class, its one that requires a lot of learning and refinement, far more than any of the other classes so far, although when you got it down its very rewarding. Remember that the bear isnʻt only played one way, just as a mage doesnʻt only nuke, sometimes hes a paladin, or sometimes thereʻs int birds (my fave). Whichever route you choose, remember to keep the rest of your group in mind and most importantly have fun.

    *EDIT*
Oh and one more thing, donʻt let anyone tell you that in order to tank you need a 1H weapon and shield, it can be done very effectively with 2H weapons provided you know how to use them and your limits (trust me on this one).

Thank you. This truly sheds light on what I was trying to understand. This a very solid post that I respect and will follow with great dignity.

Like my personal favorite is bird, but bears are very easy once you get the hang of it.

Man it's been a long time since I've played pl. But I have to say, bear is the hardest class to play. It's the easiest class to make yourself look like a noob. If you find a bear that really knows how to play, it's a thing of beauty. Easily was my favorite class.

First, I don't get mad. Second, I am fairly certain I did my share of explaining. Three of us have gone into great depth on the effectiveness of the bear. However, since we are humans, we have the ability of choice and it is up to you to choose what is best for you.

Have you seen bears in PvP? They could easily beckon-stomp win if the bear dodges the birds repulse.

    OP in pvp.
Lol ik this thread is about pve.
But the dodge is stackable, and its basically,
    FREE DODGE!
Taunt cos zero mana, and stacks, and combine With evasion.

All for One, and One for All!
The Brightest of Flames..cast the Darkest of Shadows..
One who knows nothing cannot understand anything..

And the stacking in itself makes Bears unique, after all, has any of you seen any other class which buffs could stack?
