Is curse good for elite run?

I mostly play my mage now. Did a few shyual elite maps with some friends recently. My build is fire/lightning/time/shield and I find its fine either for survive or kills.
However, I notice some mages I played with in elite map use curse (probably replace lightning with curse), I dont know how it works for elite maps or arena. Any experience?

For me curse works nicely for elite maps. It helps party to clear mobs much faster than lightning or ice. For arena, I don't know.

Curse is very good arena skill. With the first upgrade, it also lowers the damage output of the bosses - one shot kill never happen while cursed - and reflect huge damage.

On elite maps, i didnt used much, maybe its not good pairing with frost bolt.
