If you want to square any number ending in a five, keep in mind that the end will always be 25. You can use this method with any number ending in five that you want to square quickly.
So say you want to square 65. Put 25 at the end, then multiply the first part, or 6, and the next digit higher than that, or 7, and you get 42. Put the 42 in front of the 25 and you get 4225, which is 65 squared.
Try it with 1005. Multiply 100 and 101, and put 25 on the end. 100 times 101 is 10,100. Put 25 at the end and you get 1,010,025 aka the right answer.
