Default [Guide] How to be a Mage! (by Aquascaper)

As an endgame mage, there are basically 2 options - pve and pvp. As of now, mages are way underpowered in pvp (especially if they don't have good gear), so this thread will mainly focus on the pve aspect of the game. The first thing you will need is gear. This depends a lot on your budget, so here is a list of gears for mages:

Us mages have 2 types of weapons: staffs and guns. Staffs can hit multiple targets with auto-attack and have higher dps (damage per second), but less damage). Guns only hit one target with auto-attack and have a lower dps, but higher damage. What you use is up to personal preference, but here are some questions to help you chose:

Do you (a) use lots of skills or (b) tend to use auto-attacks?
Do you (a) like to get "auto-aimed" or (b) aim yourself?
Do you (a) want the cheapest, yet still good, weapon for mage or (b) have a bit more gold?
Do you (a) want the highest possible damage (b) wanna look good? lolol

If you answered mostly (a)s, then a gun would probably a better choice for you. If you answered mostly (b)s, go with a staff. If your budget allows it (and you don't totally hate the other option), consider getting both a gun and a staff. Many mages use staff for mobs and guns for bosses.

Guns: Elondrian Rifle ($$$$$) > Expedition Rifle of Brutality or Assault (basically free) > Runic Flare ($$)
Staffs: Kershal Scepter ($$$$)> L41 Scythe ($$$)> L36 Scythe ($$$$)> Planar Totem of Brutality ($$$)> Magmatic Totem of Brutality ($$$)> Planar Totem of Fatality ($$) Magmatic Totem of Fatality ($$)> L40 Architect Rod of Brutality ($)> L40 Nordr Jewel of Brutality ($)

That pretty much sums it up for weapons. Now for the armor and helms:

too lazy to write this part for now.

Now that you know about the helms and armors, it's time to move on to the rings and amulets.

Rings: Arcane Ring ($$$$$$) > Blood Ruby of Shuyal ($$$) > Archon Brutality ($$) > Elondrian Fitness - int version ($$) > Silver Hoop of Brutality - Epic (basically free)
Amulets: Lepre/Jack Hellow (gives you luck*, but low stats) in addition to: L41 Mythic Amulet ($$$$) > Wilds Amulet of Brutality ($$$) > Eerie Pendant of Assault ($$) = Lunar Pendant ($$) > Elondrian Fitness - int version ($$) = Eerie Pendant of Brutality ($$) > epic, int based amulets (basically free - $)

    [other gear coming soon]

*luck: chance at "rerolling" to a better loot table, or getting a chance at better items
