Personally, I think both lifegiver and shield are a waste of skill slots for 'fast' elite runs. You'd be better off putting those points in a dmg skill.
I'd go for fire, ice, light, time as this gives you the highest dmg output possible for a sorcerer (as calculated with CosmoxKramer's dmg calculator). Arguably Gale seems attractive for the crowd control properties, but it needs to be charged for AoE dmg, has a fairly long cooldown compared to most dmg oriented skills and its crowd control properties aren't all that hot.
