Outrageous Ping

Kept being told its just my connection when 70prcnt of players i came across in game complaining about pings and delays.
Btw im getting used to it since its just me

i'm using pc.. everytime i change map. i always get disconnected.. after relogged.. ping keep raising 10k+ ..i can't even change map.. :/

I've had a number of these, at least 4 or 5 separate days during the event ping spiked upward of 5k. Using iPad2.

Never seen it in the 4 months prior to the Winter event.

not just you bro, my ping jumps to 30k and back down to 200-600 alot lately, and my connection has always been fine

Yes. I experience it too recently during the winter update in my ipad mini. Our wifi has really good connection but sometimes ping goes crazy going up and down.

I dont have laggs. My normal ping 180-220 (im from Poland) Connection? 6MB and two users over wifi (me on mobile and my sis on her laptop).

Lol my download speed of a file is 10kb/s(true) I'm using android and I get 350-525ping

Jon and other guys who have problem - Even if u got 80mbps fiber still u might lag. You guys did internet speed test. In that test ping shows as average ping - so its not viable test.
I suggest do manual ping test on pc so atleast u can figure out -
Is that problem with game server?
Is that problem with ur internet servise provider.
Is that problem with ur device/pc?

For manual test we need help of dev. We need ip address of server on which we are playing. Here is one of the method of ping/latency test.

When I was in London I had 80mbps connection as well and our guild managed to win world first competition of World of Warcraft. We were really strict on recruiting if player ping is bad(more than 80). We asked them to do post result of manual ping test. Here is one the ping test result -

You can see that pings vary between 50-250. Most important is that some the packet data missing in test - THAT CAUSE LAG Hope that makes clear how lag happens. So I say goodbuy to virgin media in UK.

How to reduce lag on PC-

Press ctrl+r. It will open run menu. Type msconfig in run menu. Remove all unnecessary program from startup.
Turn off any kind of auto update while gaming(yes even windows update).
Put your anti virus on gaming/silent mode.
Open task manager (alt+ctrl+delete) - goto processes - check out if there any other process running except game and system. If u find unwanted process - kill whole process line.

Sorry I never played on Ipad so I have no idea how that works.

Just do a netstat while you are playing, and the amazonaws.com one(s) is/are the server that you are connected to.

Game is currently caching, and I found if you reboot it seems to help clear your cache and run faster.

the lagg and delay is coming from the server ping, a certain device wont make your ping go crazy but just for example run a slower game .. the main issue is the ping

Thanks to all for your advice. I've done the following:

Made sure no background apps are running.
Reset and updated my ipad4.
Moved the router ( i have a Netscape).

I will do a test on my pc and ipad later to test the ping rate.

I appreciate that most of you have a point, it can be a number of issues so I am eliminating all of them. My point is though that before the update I was running faultlessly. My ping in game was always a steady 120 and that was fine with me but lately it has been triple that and more.

I'll do some more tests later, hopefully will have better results. Thanks to everyone for their input especially samhayne, falmear and Zeus. Cheers lads.

the test give u 42ms to ur COUNTRY. Arcane legends is a USA server. so obviusly people from Eu can get more ping than people from usa/americ.

im from americ and i have a low ping and never get high ping.

if u have lag maybe is for ur connection maybe satured. try to enter another game and check ping.

or maybe can be ur connection to server.

I'm currently having similar problems, my ping "ping outs" every 2-3 minutes or so. Never happened before the update and every 3rd or 4th time I start the app it won't happen. I always play with 0 background apps running aswell

Last night and right now, there are pings in and out. I highly doubt is my connection since I never had this issue.

sametimes 180 ping going to 3-5-15-100 k, than backing to normal and a,while later again 10-100+ k, sametimes 120 k .. its not happening to me allways, its sametimes only.. its not about background apps i have a ROOT ed android on the background nothing working when i play AL i am stoping everything.. i think lag reason event ( new maps ) + new npc's + alot player.. also played so many onnline PC game from big companys, mostly games laging on new map events and they keep reseting games everyday..
