Basic or more advanced animation? Basic animation on gimp is sooooo easy, but one you start layering with letter effects, eh hard.

GIMP is such a great program, I have Photoshop and I prefer GIMP for most things. It's not easy to start out with, but neither is Photoshop, really. The program is free, but you'll get your money's worth with this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/143...0XB4JJH1MV80SY
