From my experience supers work like so:
1st super up to 15gems
2nd super up to 25gems
3rd super up to 40gems
Noe u gota b pretty unlucky for it to take so long but that's what if experienced.
BTW FYI mythic helm was my hardest item ever to perfect was a real pain.

I tried every day when it first came out and got zip. I've come to the conclusion that supers are kind of like gambling. The stat points just aren't with the gold to gem unless you have them all super'd. I'll go so broke! Currently only trying once a day on 2 items. Almost feel like selling and buying the perfected item lol

i know how it feels! 3 months trying to get a super on any item but nothing :/ i gave up on that sht SUPER GEMS GOFO!!!!! i hate supers :/

Most of the time supers are nice to me unlike crates. Once I got 2 supers out of 4 crafts! Was pretty ecstatic but I rarely use my 15 twink anymore (unless Trenton wants me to lolpvp with him.)

I have two sets of my twink all with super now.
Made some gold by perfecting ensorcelled rings and selling.
On the other hand I still need some more on my main.
This leads me to the thesis
