Try uninstall and reinstall. That usually fixes the problem. Also I'm having the same problem but I can't try this method at the moment, no wifi.

I was able to close the game when that happened and then reopened it and got stuck on the endless running dog screen.

I got in eventually. But it sits on each map, (and the loading screen) for about 5 minutes before allowing me in... It's bloody awful.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. It eventually loaded, took awhile, however when I tap play on avatar opening screen it just loads loads loads. Never ending and does same on all characters.
