Exactly! Yes, it's a smart way to earn money and kills simultaneously. But this power-leveling isn't helping the community. It just produces a bunch of dependent noobs. :-/

I'm not sure if reported asks for pink drops as well. If anything, reported gets scammed the most out of this. He has no way of telling if you gave all of your items, plus with 3 other people in the party giving him items while he liquidates, one could just keep.

It's not a scam. Reported runs through and clears out mobs which his clients would otherwise not be able to do, Why would he take a loss? I'd say asking for drops is totally fair.
