Default Suggestion: Make the next expansion 100% PvP

This may get some mixed reactions but the idea is short and sweet:

The next expansion is entirely pvp-oriented, maybe some kind of greek gladiator glory-of-the-arena type theme that includes:

-Lvl cap only raises by 1, I'm a little tired of new gear being COMPLETELY overshadowed and useless by future expansions.

-Exclusive expansion arenas, including TDM, CTF and maybe a new mode? A king-of-the-hill mode would be cool.

-You get new themed post-match loot and xp in expansion matches.

-Mix and match the gladiator armor for new sets, the blue and maroon reskins back at 80-85 did it little justice, imo.

    -Maybe a new gladiator-themed town?

-Pinnacle cap-level expansion-gear-only matches that have a chance to drop rarer things like vanities.

-Come on, beating people up is fun.

I think this would a: Revive and revitalize the interest in pvp in a majority of the community and b: focus effort entirely on pvp balancing through expansion sets.

    Food for thought.

This sounds like a wet dream of mine... so it'll probably never happen.

    A man can dream though.

+1 from me. I'd have a blast playing pvp while farming gear and xp.

Level 111 sounds very clean as an endgame level cap as well. We don't need a huge monotonous grind like the last few level caps, one level could be efficient enough like the bump from the level 76 to 77 cap. Level 77 gear was only slightly better than 76 and didn't make it completely outdated, which is the gist of what I think you're trying to say should happen to level 111 gear compared to level 110.

Good even if the focus isn't totally pvp but it get attention it would be awesome but if they work hard on PvP they might want to monetize pvp as well which is absolutely unwanted might bring further downgrade of pvp what stat guns , enchanted etc did.

+1 from me, this sounds like something that would make the game fresh again. I would really like to see something like this happen for the next cap

Add pvp season event and pvp gladiator non tradable armor. We all start out with ugly honor gear and use new pvp gladiator medals to buy the new gear / pvp enchants/ exlir etc.

The only issue is this doesnt appeal to every player per say. Id love to have it in game, but others who purely pve wouldnt have as much fun. Also tournies are put in place so that items can be gained from the long hours of grinding pvp. Once again, love the idea just dont know how many it wouldnt appeal to

Interesting idea indeed, this will cater for the pvpers of the game.

But what about others who enjoy merching, those who like to farm, others who like to socialise in townes?

Perhaps this can be a great idea for a new pvp arena at end game with no enchantments and procs. But at what end? Honor arena even has its challenges and criticisms.

We still want a new expansion with a exciting new theme, gorgeous gear with effects, a challenge to grind for the first weekend, new gear and sets to farm for as well as special rare vanity items.

We still are thirsty with the idea of a permanent new gauntlet area.

I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.

I’m all for expanding pvp ... It shouldn’t be forced though i.e. don’t force players to pvp to get to the end of the game. Otherwise all of these suggestions sound good to me.

Add a pvp acquired stat to the new gear (like exp or fame) in the next expansion. But not new gear exclusively acquired in pvp.
In the past PL required pve to acquire better stats and gear to pvp (like 2pc/3pc ring, human faces, eggs etc).
Do that in reverse next expansion. Encourage pve players to pvp with stats and gear that make pve faster/easier (farming, leveling etc.)

+2 PvP is the sole core keeping PL alive and should do whatever needed to keep it around.

First of all, I adore this Cap Idea. A lot. Level 111 looks and types soooo clean, man. Also, PvP to farm for xp and loot? Pure happiness.

Secondly, I think you need to be able to strike a balance between the PvP and PvE Communities.

My thoughts on closing the gap between PvP and PvE in this cap are as follows:

Upon reaching L110 (yes, 110) you obtain an optional quest to unlock a new PvP-Centric Town and its corresponding item set. I imagine the gear from this quest being L100 Honour Equivalents, or something of the like - definitely not mythic, nor enchanted.

Completing this quest and equipping this gear allows you to enter this new 25 Person-PvP-Cap-Town. The gear should be as balanced as L100 Honour Sets (if not more)! It is not the 'endgame' gear, it is just a means of farming for it, PvP Style!

Once you enter said PvP-Centric Town you gain the ability to PvP all players in the town in some messy 25 Person FFA Battle. This town need not be full for the battle to start, simply it needs more than 1 player in it.

Upon killing a player, you have an x% chance to drop pieces of the new PvE Cap Gear/Vanities OR xp orbs if they are yet to reach L111. This gear, as Butch said, wouldn't completely overpower the L110 Mythic gear, but it would be slightly better in some areas, and worse in others (think Sewer's vs Nuri's; SSC vs Event gear; & etc). Also, this dropped gear should not be equippable in the new town.

Once there is one man standing out of the 25, they get one more x% chance at a drop. Then everyone is kicked from town, and they can enter again.

Alternatively, if PvP is not your thing, you can grind the new L111 campaign maps with a slightly higher chance at dropping the same loot you would drop in the town ordinarily. (I say slightly higher because you have more chances per minute in a 25 Person FFA than you would in a 5 Person PvE run).

Theoretically, none of this is outside of the existing engine limitations (the usual reason for things not being implemented). You can already obtain items in a PvP Environment, and you can already join multiple PvP Team's in a Town Environment.

(Perhaps there would be issues creating 25 different distinct team colours - but it's not impossible, by any means. Besides, are team colours even needed if upon entering the town you already know it's going to be every man for themselves?)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Butch's idea could literally be what sets this game apart from every other MMO - for the second time - if and only if it is implemented correctly. This thread only scratches the surface of what could be possible if PL's PvP actually got some proper attention. It really was one of the greatest PvP Games around and it had the potential to be so much more - this could be the start of said potential. But anywho, I digress.

I'll catch y'all in the town if this ever actually happens; which I hope it does.

    Peace out!

Many years ago before starting Spacetime, one of my most critically-acclaimed games featured a required "PVP" component. The 'last level' of the game was all about beating each other up (in space). My development team had millions in resources, months of time to build, and we wound up creating one of the most finely balanced multiplayer space combat games that's ever existed. Unfortunately none of that mattered because the rest of the game was almost entirely PVE, and only a small percentage of the game population would accept PVP performance dictating their PVE success. Facing massive backlash from the majority population of the game management insisted that we revert the "PVP" requirements for endgame. Looking back, I'm dumb for making this effort (in "Star Wars: Jump to Lightspeed") because some friends of mine had done a similar thing with another older game and it had flopped in the exact same way. They warned me and back then I didn't listen. As a general rule, MMO players en masse prefer PVP success based on PVE content consumption and not the other way 'round.

Also, to be clear: expansions are a business effort (driving player retention and long-term revenue). I would not green-light a PVP-focused expansion that didn't effectively monetize all of the components in such a way as to make up for the deliberate absence of PVE revenues. My guess is that these monetization changes would sour even the most dedicated player as they would go far beyond what we currently have in our largely PVE-focused game.

    RIP PVP XD
The new age games are pvp focused and pick up and play style (no need to farm to do pvp) just that those aren't tagged with pvp rather sub zonres of it, name it Battle royale, MOBA or just multiplayer all PVP, I guess MMO still has some market share but that would be pretty little.

Anyway that's a different topic we love PL pvp than any other game pvp just for a side note we hope that pvp will keep getting at least some attention that it deserve, PVP is and always was a small fraction of entire community but farming for pvp gear has been always very important role at game revenue I can bet if there was no pvp, players wouldn't even farm half of the top level gears for any level cap past to present, I mean, PvP is small but PvP contributed highly if not mostly to game revenues indirectly that way.
