I think birds are great too, and yes, they are like ninjas (with good dodge rate topped up with Evade skill) - though they can be somewhat fragile if wrongly used.

I used to play (and sometimes still do) as a mage since I liked the heal and revive spells (It's a good way to help the team aside from the area spells), but I soon got attached to my bird as soon as I made one- it is surprising how much damage a bird can throw at zombies and aliens! Moreover, they are crucial for setting up some heavy area combos or mega combos, like Nature strike, Hellstorm or Cruel Blast (Terror is good also!).
