I had a contest in town, whoever could count to 5 without being interrupted won 1k. It was mostly for lulz and trolling, since everyone tried at the same time and failed each other, but in the end this one guy managed to win twice. I feel no loss at giving him 2k, for I had successfully created forest haven town peace.

Well, I agree you'd have to be pretty gullible, but remember that kids play the game. I'm not sure where craftiness becomes abuse, but a fake lottery seems like ban-worthy behavior to me.

Good point. Still, it's going to be an issue. I've seen several people claiming to be holding lotteries in town, including a couple of level 1s that were particularly suspicious since they could have been newly created accounts made to avoid being connected to a scam. Anyway, I really don't know if or how the devs would handle such a thing, and I'm just glad it's not my job to figure it out.

Yeah, but mine wouldn't be a weekly lotto for rich peeps. It'd be an in-towne, maybe 200g entry lotto. And I almost have the screencast going so people know it's real (I'll have the random number generator set up, the rules, etc.)

Is there a random number generator available through chat, like: /random 100 ? We used to give all sorts of stuff away in WoW that way. It was pretty safe, though, as randomly generated numbers showed as a different color or wording layout, normally unavailable to players.

People in final fantasy 11 used to have /roll lotteries and would actually pay. And I hope the players here are more trust worthy than the ones on there. It would be fun to see if someone could come up with a working lottery system.
