Hopefully it can get ironed out, and more tourneys like this can happen. Time zone issues are always going to be there, hopefully a good system can be devised.

Ok, so up until now I had been lucky enough to not have to deal with the inability of others to organize a small group people. As everyone knows team COT B was scheduled to fight Unity this afternoon even tho they obviously broke the rules once by having a sub/alt that wasn't even listed on there team roster play for them. So earlier this morning I logged online to arrange the meeting of our groups on the CTF field. I went to the leader of the guild Kanital and explained how 2 of my people for guild were in way different sides of the world and how we would be totally ready and willing to do battle at 5pm PST to which I was told that was no big deal and we agreed to meet back here in PL at that time. Well long story short, I arranged with my team to log on at that time and even gathered other means to communicate with them (ie: fring, skype, text, ect) to ensure we would all be here for the monumental event. Thing is we were all here and team Unity was nowhere to be found for a good 45-50min after which Kanital finally logged on. When I went to speak to him he logged off again, it was actually another 20min before he logged back in. So again I went to speak to him and ask if his team was on. He said NO, and then out of nowhere said he's leaving for 4 days and I had 2 options # 1 being we wait the 4 days till his all mighty return (which is ludacris) or #2 which was to let them find a sub for him to take his spot (the thing is they have a sub named shooterpoo) and when I told him he already had a sub his only response was " I don't know yet " what ever that means? I then explained that there was a 3rd option that was being forgotten, he and his team could forfeit the match and allow us to move on to the finals which I can honestly say he wasn't very thrilled at the notion. After a drawn out conversation he concluded the same way he started stating that he was leaving and we would fight upon his arrival in 4 days and that "Its not his problem"... which is absurd to say the least!

Sam I want to say I totally love this concept and can't wait for there to be more tourney's like this, I understand that this is a learning experience for everyone involved and hope there is a lot taken away from this. But with that said WE ALL need to be able to follow the rules aswell as know that if these rules aren't followed there will be repercussions such as disqualification from the event. Because I fully believe that should be the case here I want to push for a full disqualification due to forfeiture of match for not showing up at the mutually agreed upon time frame. We waited for 2 hrs and didn't even get the chance to win or lose .... I have to say besides feeling like I wasted not only my time I feel like I wasted the time of my team and walk away from this feeling demoralized.

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not get you invited back.

Clearly, there's a lot of work to do to get these set up and working. Everyone's time is very valuable and yes, matches must be agreed upon and people show up or no-shows are disqualified.

Atleast have suggestive reasoning kan, and not go out of line with the following comment made. You were already given a chance with the illegal substitute.

But w/e, what was said was said, and it shouldn't be condoned by others for the sake of pl's future for tournaments.

Didn't want to take sides here, especially since I'm not directly involved. Though my not participating in the tourney does give me an unbiased opinion.

I have to agree with Tank's team. Like any sport, meeting, agreement, or whatever, if you agree on a time to compete and one team doesn't show, unless it was agreed upon before the set time if a no-show happened, it's an automatic DQ for the no-show group.

It's natural sportsman conduct, doesn't and shouldn't have anything to do with being scared. Tank's team did show up in the first place to compete didn't they?

Just speaking from experience, been on both sides of the coin here.

Maybe you could make an official thread where we can arrange our times better. If 2 teams agree upon a time, you update the post with that time. This time is then absolute. You forfeit if you don't show up at that time. Now, you could make it a bit flexible so teams can reschedule 24hrs before the match or so. A link to a timezone converter might be cool too

If you don't have the time to put this together, with the pending releases of your new products, I'd be happy to step up and make that thread. Or you could appoint any forum member to make that thread, I'm sure most involved people wouldn't mind taking that workload off of you.

About the Unity no-show... Will these rules you mentioned be applied?

Kan, its not about winning. Its about following rules and and having good conduct. I'm all in support for Sam's idea of tournaments, making it fair for others and to show examples that shouldn't and hopefully not be tolerated over a game, which is to have fun.

Nono, it says in the thread if there's no sub and someone is gone, you can fight with the people you have there. It could've been 5v4 but unity wanted a fair fight, and had me sit and ONLY played 4v4. It was a fair fight.

I also asked you a question, if you guys won, would you be asking for a rematch? Or take the win? Honest answer, you ignored by question both times I asked...

myst it also says you can't use subs that are on your team as you were not on the team you should not have been there watching or not.
