Anywhere you see your character in the UI you should be able to click-drag on the character to rotate. Just tested it in the lobby, auction house, avatar page, inspect, store, inventory, etc. It shouldn't be too hard to add pinch/spread to zoom.
We do have plans to implement a mentoring system, but it's not designed.
