Typically, if your damage before the multiplier is d and your damage multiplier is m, your total damage is d * m.

but what's the difference between damage% stacking and damage multiplier?

I could be totally wrong but if I understand what asomners was saying, damage multiplier will also apply to effects that buff your damage. Say you have arcanite sapphire as your base pet and the 35% stacking damage is active. With +25% stacking damage and +35% stacking damage active at the same time, you add the damage multipliers together - so +60% damage total (hence 'stacking'). However, with +25% damage multiplier, you would take all of the stacking damage (so +35%) and then multiply it by your damage multiplier. So, 135% damage x 125% damage multiplier is 168.75% or +68.75% damage instead of just +60%. This effect would get better and better the higher your damage stacking multipliers are.
(whatever damage you would do without it) * (non-stacking damage multiplier) * (stacking damage multiplier)
where non-stacking damage multiplier = 1 + (highest of non-stacking %damage / 100)
and stacking damage multiplier = 1 + (sum of stacking %damage, elite damage, boss damage, etc if it applies / 100)
What is the difference of non-stack damage to damage multiplayer?
I tested it 20% damage multiplayer of grom vs non-stack damage of hero oconi and it is both give me same add damage to my stat, and i use mephisto (50% non-stack damage) and gueniverr (50% stacking damage) to both pet and it gives same amount of stat damage to me.
So is damage multiplier is just a synonym for non-stacking damage?
1+1= 2
& Also 2x2 ×4 multiply to 8 =32
32 damage non stacking & 32 multiply for 30= 960 for non stacking hajajajajaja
