Everyone could use a hug now and then, and none more than the legendary Hugthulu and Hugthulu Prime. They're back, but it's up to you if you'll accept their deadly embrace.
Getting Started
Speak to Cupid in Windmoore to learn more about the Lovecrafting Event and the huggable threat that Arlor faces. He'll direct you to the portal where you can spend energy to enter the event zone.
NEW this year:
- Two Week-long Challenges! Tiers and Leaderboards reset at the end of Week 1. New rewards available during Week 2.
- Expand your Level 81 Endless Love and Tainted Love Sets with new Belt and Ring items!
- Lootable Badges! Farm Hugthulu and Hugthulu Prime for a chance to loot their respective Badges!
- Crafted Badge! Collect components from Merkfin and the Golden Merkfin, buy the recipe and craft the "Golden Merkfin" Badge.
- Crafted Arcane Pet! Loot required components from Hugthulu Prime, find a Radiant Arcane Shard, buy the recipe and craft "Lil'Thulu's Egg."
- Crafted Arcanite Pet! Loot (Legendary) Love Pupper's Egg and combine with an Arcane Shard, a Mythic Pet Egg, and the recipe to craft "Arcanite Love Pupper's Egg!"
Note on Energy Drops: fight monsters at or above your character level to get the best Energy Essence drop rate. Fighting creatures below your level means a lower drop chance for Essence.
Once you're inside the event zone, you can purchase the event Bane Item, the Enthralled Talisman. This item will prevent Hugthulu's tainted love barrels from damaging and slowing you.
Make your way through the map defeating enemies and the Merfkin mini-boss to collect L, O, V, and E candy letters. These can be crafted into event tokens, or a Love Letter to summon the second boss, Hugthulu Prime (more on him in a second).
Then, get ready for a fight! Hugthulu awaits.
Head back to Windmoore to chat with Remmi Amor for quests to gain extra tokens. She has 3 quests (2 daily) to complete.
Timeline
This two-week event will begin on Thursday, February 2nd and run through Thursday, February 16th, with a 3 day cooldown.
Event Scoring and Tier Rewards
Killing Hugthulu gives you Tier Points. Climb through Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Plat Tiers for awesome rewards! At Gold Tier and above, use a Love Letter (crafted from Parchment Paper and L-O-V-E candy letters) to summon Hugthulu Prime at his altar! Killing Hughtulu Prime gives you significantly more Tier points.
Note: Hugthulu Prime is a Level 81 Boss only. While his level will scale, his stats will be equivalent to Lvl 81 no matter what level you are.

Bosses and Boss Drops
There are 2 bosses and 2 mini bosses to fight during the Lovecrafting Event. Here's where you can find them and what they drop!
Merfkin: This mini-boss spawns in the event map and has a chance to drop the following loot:
- Candy Hearts
- Arcanite Shaping Stone
- Merkfin Claw, Liver and Frill (used to craft the Golden Merkfin Badge)
- Gold Lovecraft Chest [Farmer's Elixir Only]
The "Arcanite Shaping Stone" can be combined with the Hugthulian Locked Crate 2023 in the Crafting Station to make "Hug's Arcane Locked Crate 2023."
"Hug's Arcane Locked Crate 2023" contains Arcane Level 81 Kraken Battle items (armor, helmet, accessories, weapons) in addition to everything contained in the Hugthulian Locked Crate 2023.
Golden Merfkin: This rare-spawn mini boss is similar to Merfkin, but has a chance to drop extra rewards like:
- Golden Letter Chests (needed to craft Love Letter for Hugthulu Prime)
- Candy Hearts
- Locked Crates
- Golden Merkfin's Blood Vial (used to craft the Golden Merkfin Badge)
- Endless Love Rings (lv 81)
Which confer a new set bonus when 4 Endless pieces are worn.

Hugthulu: Make it to the end of the event map (after defeating the Merfkin) to face this boss. He has a chance to drop:

On damage the Kraken Battle Pendant has a chance to grant the
Defender of the Depths damage reflection shield for ten (10) seconds (36 sec. cooldown). This shield has a 100% chance to reflect up to 500% of incoming damage. While the shield is active your Dodge Chance is lowered.
Shredder Spawn proc: if an enemy is defeated while the
Defender of the Depths shield is active a school of friendly Shredder Fish is spawned to fight by your side. Shredder Fish return to the Zodian Ether after twenty (20) seconds.
Elixirs
- Love Elixir: Grants you a temporary display of hearts and 2 nearby players 2 hearts.
- Golden Love Elixir: Grants a chance to get a Golden Love Letter Chest from Lovecraft mobs and bosses.
- Fleeting Love Farmer's Elixir: Briefly increases rare item drop chances during the Lovecraft event, specifically:
Hugthulu Prime
- Drops 2 Hugthulian Crates

Notes on Set Mechanics:
- Endless Love armor sets can be upgraded into Tainted Love armor sets using Hugthulu's Purple Rose which drops from Hugthulu Prime
- Endless Love now has both a 2/2 and 4/4 set bonus.
- Tainted Love now has both a 3/3 and a 5/5 set bonus.
- Endless Love and Tainted Love Armor and Helmets have the same stats and only differ in the sets they accompany
- Stats awarded from set bonus will work in ALL areas of the game, including PvP
