New To Mage Need help

Hello Everyone new to mage and was wondering if you guys could give me the layout

What Skills do I need for PVE?

What is the best base pet for Mage and what pets to slot in for PVE

Best Set im assuming would still be the Kracken set?

Heal is most likely the most useless skill for a mage, I usually have a dps build for easy maps and a more defensive one with shield.
DPS: Fireball, Lightning Strike, Curse (good for single targets with high hp, meaning mainly bosses), as 4th option you can choose between Gale (also has some CC), Time Shift (which is my personal fav cause I love to drop it in the middle after I�ve gathered mobs, Gale is easier to use though) or Frost Bolt which is just a worse Lightning strike damage wise, but at least it has a little crowd control which can be handy in certain situations. Not saying you need to unluck all of the 4th option, 1 or 2 is enough, just a thing of personal preferance (I have both Curse and Time Shift unlocked)

Defensive: 1. Firebolt, 2. Lightning Strike, 3. Curse/Gale/Time Shift/Frost Bolt, 4. Shield (again I usually switch 3rd skill between Time Shift and Curse, depending on how easy mobs and bosses are defeatable, strong boss - Curse, weak mobs - Gale/Time Shift)

Oh and for eggs, arc sapphire is great as base pet, HB also the ones listed above are good, if you go for Heroic Sabra and you have a little time, wait till catacombs come back start of January and it will be cheaper than it is rn. For AA i usually run H Tadhep/H Pere for Haste, Arc Werewinger for more boss damage or simply H ghostly for more speed, there is many viable options though.

As for gear, Kraken armor + Staff for mobs, Gun for bosses, if you got extra cash getting full kraken surely is beneficial, once you proc your kraken armor + gun/staff - switch to something like zaarus set for more damage (Zaarus is a cheap option), with the new sets there is also better options to switch to if you have enough cash.
