it is true that it's discouraging for many to even try to run lb when all the
well geared players can just use the
same gear on alts(on same account or different accounts) to secure another spot on lb
now as some1 else said on a different thread it is also true that even if one can run on alts it still takes the
gear, skills, knowledge, time and effort to do it and this keeps the lb somewhat competitive
but would it had been more or less competitive if all of us who gave up on lb early on would've not been discouraged? who knows?
in the end it depends on what sts wants and how they see things
banning the ip is not a reliable idea; it can be easily bypassed
i've been thinking about a way to make it so that one cannot get multiple slots on lb and here's a possible way to make that happen:
- requirements for lb: gear, skills, knowledge, time and effort
- sts can't do anything about the latter
- but they can do something about the first one
The idea:
- make all the gear a player enters the event with completely bound(unstashable and untradeable) for the duration of the event
- every piece of gear one has in the inventory when entering the event for the first time becomes completely character bound until the event ends
- the player would receive a warning stating exactly this when attempting to enter the event for the first time
- this way alts become irrelevant(no matter how many one has on the same account or different accounts)
- this does seem a bit harsh but it's quite an easy solution
Drawbacks:
- most of us who considered running lb have spent a lot of time/money/effort to gear up and also to make those alts, invest in them(time to lvl up and loadouts for each for example)
- i myself made some alts specifically for this reason(even if i have none on lb rn)
so in the end would the dissatisfaction of these few players who can "exploit" this be less important to sts than the satisfaction of the other people who feel like the op of this thread(discouraged by multiple alts on lb)?
i myself am not sure; which is why i said "exploit"; i understand both points of view: one feels robbed of the chance for a lb reward and the other feels entitled to it since he can obtain it
