Hey!! I'm a GFX Artist and sometimes I like to mess around with how UI's look. And I think this would be such a cool idea.

Also I read a while ago that there would be no more gear/vanity slots added due to lack of space. Minimizing the 'satchel' and moving the slots to the middle would greatly increase the space for 9 total slots.. Or even 10, if the 'satchel' were to be moved next to the loudout section. (could be benefitial for the distant future if extra gear types were to be added)

seperating gaze is a lovely idea. maybe satchel can go 3rd slot where we have furniture and craft stuff inventory and the extra slot can be trails. i liked ur design fit perfectly.

Aside from the inventory screen on a tablet device, there are other screens that display slots (trade/auction/stash/etc.) as well as phone vs. tablet that need to be taken into consideration.

I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm and motivation, but there are no plans to add additional slots at this time.

just in case if only reasons preventing to add something like that is UI desing, i would like to recommend merging Aura + Wisp to one slot, Trails + backpack, gaze + halo + helmet to the same slot as we having our weapons. Bow + dagger + boomerang.

Head: Gaze slot - Halo slot - Helmet slot
back: trail slot - backpack slot
effect: aura slot - wisp slot

yes i agree UI wouldnt be so nice if all of those have their own icon placement. for example thats how it seems currently on my laptop.
