I get that no system will make everyone happy, and that leaderboards will always have competition. You mention that most players won’t get anywhere near the Top 25, but isn’t that part of the problem? A leaderboard should feel like a challenge, not a paywall. If skill, strategy, or consistent effort played a bigger role, it would make the event more rewarding for a wider range of players, instead of just turning into a spending war.
I’m not saying chests should give no points, but there has to be a balance where both investment and gameplay matter. Otherwise, it stops being exciting and just becomes a bidding contest.
