Thanks for your well-written and considered opinion. I do see things differently but I can totally understand why you see it as you do.

From my perspective, I have witnessed years and years of LB runners trading gold in enormous quantities to gain advantage. So this really isn't anything new.

I believe that the forums community gets irritated when a new event follows the patterns of other events (where it's kinda expected that top runners will be spending big sums of gold to score the top spots); as each new event seems like an opportunity to wipe the slate and do something entirely new that makes the whole affair feel strictly egalitarian.
