Unfortunately, you'd end up with the same issue (in fact, this would be more work). They would still need to make 3 separate auras because the character models for each class are different sizes and shapes.
The way they made these auras is by basically getting the character model, resizing it to be a bit bigger, and then applying a texture. Here's how that looks like:
You can see this effect with certain vanities:
And in fact on some vanities that are bulky enough, you might not see the aura as much
Anyway making a different aura for each class makes sense in this case, since the bodies for each class are different.
One way they could have made it universally apply to all classes is using a particle system. However, that's expensive. So the method they went with is a bit better. Hope this clears it up for some of yall.
