still wouldn't condone this in a merchant's town either, and that is exactly what my ignore list is for too

If it happens in B*, it will happen in a merch town even more, with 25 people all competing for the 3 or 9 visible lines on the chatbox. However, the spam would lessen in B* consequently. I'm all for it, and like we said, there's an ignore button for the really annoying ones.

Some people just need to use the channel
So we can use the merchant town to avoid annoying people

This will never happen. You can't control people's speech to that extent because they aren't being vulgar or directly/indirectly offensive. You can't ban them for spamming sales. When the people on a world change frequently, the new people didn't see the previous message. So while it is annoying, you can't completely blame them unless it's a constant stream of messages with no end in sight. Being annoying isn't ban-able; I'd have been gone weeks ago if it was.
