Yes, you could do that if you so choose! The 2X multiplier for the Double XP weekend is added on top of whatever else you have running.

Its always been a "multiplier". The x2 week xp elixer and trasher x4 xp = x8 xp so now x2 =x16.That's what I was thinking until he said "multiplier". I could care less either way but someone will want specifics.
Basicly lets say you gain 1xp, on the weekend you get x2 but if you have weeklong x2 its twice as much so x4 and if you have x4 trasher it x4*x4 so x16

Actually, a few weeks back we had this discussion and it was explained that elixirs are additives, as Sam said above. Therefore, purchasing the week-long elixir with a Thrasher's gives you 6x (4 + 2). I always thought it was multiplied as well til this was explained in a thread made by Apollo I believe.
