Both. Any PvE map should cause the portal hunter elixir to count down, making it count down when you're hunting for a portal and when you are inside grotto.

Ok, I'm confused first post says starts Dec 20th AND Dec 22nd....
Can someone clearly explain why there is 2 start dates for the same event...
One is the normal winter event start time (20th) one is the start time for the leaderboard event (22nd-25th).

The vagueness in guides to this game is utter garbage, the end game seems like it was copy pasted to completion.
I literally spent 400$ this week to get dev dragons 2x and other stuff now this comes up?

I highly suggest keeping up with the forums here. I believe the green gimal was explained in the update announcement that implement the ring.
Things that were common sense previous caps are long forgotten. Asking around about the most efficient way to make gold from platinum would have done you a great deal of justice. You can make a ridiculous amount of gold farming with platinum, and could have gotten your Dev dragons for less than 2k.
In my opinion pets have really ruined the pve aspect of the game for me. It's pretty much the same as a game of slots with people just spamming skills to see if they win a prize. As opposed to learning to play their roles, and utilizing class combos and teamwork. It's created a new generation of players that rely on stats from an item that never previously had them. Stats that are typically better than the best sets in the game.
Plenty of people capped just fine before warbird was released, now a good deal of people won't even run mad mage maps without 1 or 2 warbirds in the team.

Not every player uses a forum
Without keeping up with forums, your best bet is make friends with experienced players, and ask questions. I always try to be helpful even when random people ask questions in towns, as do a few other players.

Your story doesn't make sense. $400 on 2xDev and other stuff this week? Sounds like an account recently created to alter the path of the new pets. Doubt that is going to work.
Is PL dying with greed? Players aren't required to buy plat at all. They can earn 100m by farming during the winter event. Winter event is free and winter quest isn't. I see lots of new players playing and old players leaving. That is partially how it is suppose to be. Old players are getting older and have other responsibilities.
2 devs and 1 stat gun would nearly cover that, throw in some elixirs to cap or whatever and it's not hard to imagine. As far as creating a new account, feeling like I wasted plat/money is the exact reason I created mine.
You just said yourself you see new players. Why not new active forum users?
