That’s where beta will come in to play again! As I said before Jagex made a comeback with less than 500 players playing since 2013 and guess where they are now? At the top with more than hundreds of thousands playing their game again!!! If STS would actually create PLOS it must be like the old days where they would set up community events since I think that will encourage more players to actually try their game again. Additionally, a good updated content specially new campaigns and new items is a must, most of all it must not be a high end tier pay to win game like the current version of PL since it would actually end up like the current version of PL which is I believe a dead game.

If it's something STS actually wanted to execute, they could do it – I think it could yield a higher player-base through proper marketing.

Either way, a PL2 or an OSPL would both require strategic marketing. My instinct tells me this: OSPL would reel in players who departed months, even years ago. That would create the necessary foundation to support a stable community. On the other hand, PL2 might feel too 'new' (on the assumption PL2 is not the OSPL we'd imagine, but rather something different). The aforementioned oldie PL players would be skeptical, given STS' results with AL and other games. Nostalgia is the essential ingredient, and it's needed to build a solid foundation.

This is all wishful thinking, of course.
