By assigning values to t time of effect, d damage, and p precent of the time the effect is active (calculate proc rate times the duration of battle) I can asses the math behind debuff per uniti am attacking. For example I can assume that at the third pull for elite overgrow I wil have, aproximently, 8 seonds of -20% armor for every 10 sec of battle beforw the party is calculated. I also know that I ca only survive -20% armor for 2-3 sec without jugg. Additionally, one wolf dies every 4 seconds since I run with at leas one rogue every time. Two mages can stun the wolves and reduce there number of attacks over time by 50% (as opposed to 20% with onemage and 60% with three. This is arough calulaton roumdd to thetens place). Thus, the following equation is used to findhow long t must survive if i want todo thislarge pull(I wontgo into the math behind relating regular maps to eite maps since the factoris different for each map).
8 - 0.5t/2 </= 3.5
8 - 0.5t </= 7
-0.5t </= -1
t >/= 2
t is the duration of time a rogue takes to kill one wolf (4 seconds). Thus 2t = 8. 8 seconds is how long I must survive minimum, and I add 5 seconds to be safe (you would be amazed how large the variation in debuff occurance is per run). I use then have to check if I can survive 13 seconds without the aid of bombs from the rogue or a banish from samael.
HoR is usually 4 seconds of survival, jugg is 6, and pot spamming buys 4. 4 + 4 + 6 = 16 > 13. Thus I suggested to my party to do this pull over a previous one which required me to survive 17 seconds. Soon after, we ran deathless runs buuuut were about a minute slower to clear the map. When I run with 4 samaels or a rogue who knows that pull and that I need the armor buff from a bomb at that point, I use the faster but more difficult pull. However, for a basic party I know the best way. The problem is convincing party members to try it.
Many times, people learn one set of pulls and never experiment. I have only met 5 other people who try other pulls besides the norm. And of those, only 2 listened to my "pen and paper" approach as willingly as physical proof.
Translation: Math FTW
Run into the mobs, open inspect page (film whole thing via a second device) and have a mage spam heal you. Note debuffs when you replay the video in slow motion.
Whenever you notice rebuffs in elite from mobs, test them on a regular map. The mobs will have the same affect but deal much lower damage.
