Question How many characters are you dedicated to?

    I currently have 3 mains:
    Bird-55 Best Gear
Mage-52-Crappy lv51 gear with cheap Gurgox eye
Bear-52-Kinda Free Cyber and Mysterious Gear

I am currently finding it hard to lv all three to 55 with out elixirs and after the devs nerfed the easier xp requirments to level. I am thinking about focusing on my bird only and forget about the others and lv them later.
My question is...what are the pros and cons for focusing on one main?

Is it a problem to you guys to get top gear for all your characters?
Do you want to improve kdr stats on 1 character? Or all?
Are gp supposed to be spent to get top gear first before saving up?
Isn't it better to be specialised in 1 toon or "multitoon-functional'?

Thanks for the help, Im having a hard time deciding.

IMO, if you really want to get a char to 56 for the Crown, you're better off focusing on that char. Bc you can always lvl the others after if you have the time/patience.

Arterra is my only true main. reason: i cant seem to trust other mages to rev heal and do enough damage.
I do have a bird, Sangaroh, that i have started using to deal more damage and complete quests with, but i wont reach 55 for a while (51 now)
bear at 18 and a int bird at 30. not really taken care of much.

what i like about having one main? can concentrate on a specific set of gear. i can pretty much outclass any average mage since that is what i use day in and out. i dont have to transfer items in stash like rabbit ears or shields.
but having alt mains is having options. if i had a bear, bird, and mage at 55, the world would open up to me.
Guess I will have to stick to being a top class pally developing new techniques. currently working on a form of round up.

I have found that without elixirs its just too hard for me to lv my bird to 56 and my alt mains to 55.
I've realised how guilty I feel when I bring my other lower lvs to the maps bc they cant contribute as much.
I also dont have enough patience and time hehe.

Well byebye to my alt mains
    BUT
Can somebody answer my question: Is gold supposed to be spent on the best gear if you have enough or should you save your gold and use other good items that are cheaper such as normal sets and custom set.

I have 3, but only use one, currently 33. That may have to change though - character is vicious in in PVE, but gets pwned in PVP...

I have at least a perspective, since my mage is almost 55 and... well, you can see my alt levels in my sig. My take on it is simple, I'd like to have 3 characters at 55. Once my mage hits 55, he will be in Mega gear. After that I plan on getting my bear to 55, and keeping my bird at level 52 for farming purposes for at least a little while. I'd rather have 3 at 55 then 1 at 56 personally. Seems like frequently in a night you are missing a certain class, and having those 3 characters gives me the ability to be whatever the group needs that night. And you shouldn't feel bad about being below level 55 in sewers. My bird (51) for example doesn't have as much crit as a full RR bird, but he's not right there with the average bird and most birds aren't full RR anyway, and you don't have to have it to be strong there. When we farm 51's no one is over 52 in the group, and we run thru sewers like a knife thru warm butter. It has much more to do with skill level then simply level.

The advantage of one main character is that you get to be know your class intimately, can go for the absolute best gear (still my goal for my 3 alts though), and don't have to adjust playing style (going from Mage to Bear for example ) . But none of those are excluded if you have 3 either, just much more versatility.

Plus, if the only bird/bear/mage in your group is a real pain, you can replace them .

Yea I have over 10 characters, but only reveal two, Slushie my 55 bird, and Slush, my 53 bear. I am focusing on Slushie because it was my first char and I want to get at least one char to 56. (As you can see in my neat little progression bar in my sig)

I'm the same way with mages.. I prefer being the mage of the party. I feel so vulnerable as a bird, but as a mage I have control over myself AND the group.

Wish my 53 bear was a mage, I'd have a lot more motiviation to get it to 55. I was just starting to level my 21 mage, but I really just can't be bothered after the new patch, it takes so long in Fathom Crypt . There should be a patch where if you know the password, you can get in, regardless of your level. This would prevent leechers and make life easier for people who already are high level.

I'd suggest Mage if you want to make life easier, and bear if you want a challenge. A mage is a ranged attacker like your bird so you won't have as much of a transition when switching characters. Also, there is some bear discrimination right now (in sewers only). That said, the bear is a LOT of fun to play when you tank well. You make runs crisp, fast and organized and keep bosses subdued to be killed faster.

Which one, it's up to you but that's at least something to help you make an informed decision

Also, a mage is "cheapest" on any type of pots (a good bear always has to have large health pot supplies) and a Mage is easiest to farm Plasma for gold (if you do that sort of thing).

I focus on Wickedfrost (level 54) because without elixirs, leveling takes entirely too long. I have no plans on leveling another character as of now.

All three classes can be ranged and meleed, depending on how you spec and gear your character. With the exception of my archer, my mage and warrior are dual spec'ed allowing me to switch between range/melee depending on the map and pace of the group. It adds flexibility, making you that much more of a versatile player, for the benefit of yourself and the team.

I thoroughly enjoy playing all three, but for the most part, if I had to choose only one character, I find that the mage is probably the most versatile given that she can heal and revive. If I feel/need to round up, I'll switch into my FF set and go Pally (but at the expense of dealing attacks); if I feel/need to help out with kills, I'll switch into a robe/staff set (but at the expense of being exposed to damage). Otherwise, for the kill thrill, I prefer my archer.

I HATE not having xp pots.. Theres no way i can lvl these chars to 55 w/o it. I lvled all my chars startimg from lvl 40 with xp pots till 55.
