    Default Frozen Nightmares: Tone down the rooting.

    I'm all for a good challenge and understand that its supposed to be an "elite" campaign, but the rate of mob rooting is just *way* overkill. At least once every 5 seconds (max), Im getting rooted and mobbed on - it's to an extent where it's not really fun/challenging, it's just annoying/boring/tedious to deal with since I can't move and get on with the level without waiting over and over again. It really takes the momentum out of the game play in a dungeon which already has a good challenge level with the mob difficulty.

    Each class has a skill that frees you from the root.
    Correct me if I'm wrong (off the top of my head):
    Bear: Stomp
    Enchantress: Revive?
    Archer: Shattering Scream
    Hope this helped

    Mage: heal (also frees other 'frozen' party members)
    Bird: avian scream (not shattering)

    Also, if I remember correctly, keep in mind that you need at least 4 points in a skill before it 'unroots' you

    Lol, don't be. You tried to help, and even said you weren't 100% sure. On top of that heal/rev and shattering/avian are easy to be mixed up

    Omg I loved frozen nightmares!! Yes, getting stuck is pretty annoying but where's the fun with no challenge?

    Same here. Love it still. Sometimes I still join random games to play there

    And, the freezing isn't all that bad. If you use you 'unfreeze' spells with the right timing, you hardly get stopped in your path anyway

    I never noticed the rooting actually. I was busy getting 1k snowballs and pelts. (and staying alive)

    I've tried Avian scream when rooted and it almost never unrooted me. Anybody else getting this or just me?

    Get rooted, scream, still can't move.

    I think the only place I really get annoyed with rooting is when farming Fridge for green-ice. Everything in there roots, and people are always in such a rush to beat it and rmk. Although, it's not as bad with a full group, but trying to solo is kind of a pain.

    It doesn't even matter in my opinion, the cool down period is not proportional to how much mobs use rooting. It doesn't do anything, and wasting shattering scream on something thats spammed over and over just doesn't make sense.

    It's avian, not shattering. But yeah, cooldown is horrible on that one too. That's why I always play Mage there. Heal has a nice short cooldown

    My bad lol, this thread is getting confusing: "Not this scream, that one!. No its this scream with this many skill points invested."

    Anyhow yeah, the cool down makes it ineffective against the rooting rates in this campaign.

    Wow I learned something new this evening, I had no idea you needed 4 points into "insert skill" to remove debuffs. Thanks for the tip

    You do realize that this level has been severely nerfed, right?
    You didn't use to be able to use pots!
    Now THAT was a challenge!

    Thats great, but this thread isn't about things that make the level challenging or how it used to be, its about things that kill its natural progression and make it boring. I spend more time waiting for my roots to wear off than actually progressing through the campaign.

    Here is an example:

    - A handicap or obstacle on a stage which requires you to either activate an object or acquire a power up to overcome.
    vs.
    - Sitting around in a hallway waiting for something to wear off. Over and over again.

    Well tough to you sorry but its part of the challange and i expect it to be like that seriously whats the point of having an ice campaign and not get frozen its like sticking your hand in fire and not get burnt? (im not talking about the weak red flames)

    I used to do Frozen Nightmares a lot, and it was pretty fun, but you do need a party that knows what it's doing:
    • helps immensely to have a mage or two that knows to spam heal to unroot everyone, even a low-level mage
    • tanks can be very useful
    • don't grab mana/health orbs if your mana/health is already full
    • this is one of the few areas where high and low-level chars can enjoy playing together and work on teamwork
    • don't aggro everything at once
