I just thought of this when i was checking another thread about having a level requirement for bases (Exclusive Level 40 Bace). Since my merchant would be excluded due to her low level (if this suggestion was enacted), i thought that it would be awesome if there was a trade chat channel that each player could turn on or off, that was for designed for the purpose of out-of-cs vending. Constantly in b* you see people selling stuff out of cs, which is fine, even i do it. but there is always the person who will spam a quick chat over and over no matter what kind words you try to use to steer them toward proper etiquette. I would expect this to happen in the trade channel as well, but it would probably lessen the amount that goes on in b*.

Excellent Idea.. it could even be like a branch off of Blackstar like the Guildhall previews. I only wonder though since it would be a new area and people would be chilling in there not merching, how would you ensure only merchants use it? It would need an auction terminal as well.

It would obviously have a auction terminal and a stash terminal. There is no way to really ensure that everyone who entered it would be there to merch. But, with it being named "merchant's wing " or something like that, it would be understood that is what the purpose of the area is. Of course people are going to go there and chat, but im sure lots of the people chatting are still going to be looking to trade something, but people probably will show up with no intention of trading at all. even so, i think the percentage of these people would be significantly lower in the merchant's wing as opposed to all other home bases.

I think this is an absolutely cracking idea!
bout time someone thought off this! They could have stalls around the base for tradersso they could stand behind to sell their wares/ trade ect. Would make it look really cool like a proper sci fi black market place!

/trade chat. maybe you can turn it on from the options menu (kind of like how you can shut off guild chat), and then if you want to trade you type "/trade selling......" and everyone who has their "trade chat" turned on would see it. this is actually a better idea than a merchant town i think

/trade (name) brings up the trade window for that person

there is a trade chat that we can "turn on" and then when people type in the trade chat everyone who has it on can see, or are you just saying that /trade (name) is something that already exists? you can turn your guild chat on and off, and type /g (message) and your guild will see the message if the guild chat is turned on. i suggested something for trading, that everyone who would have the trade chat on could see (i.e. "/tchat wts nova" would send out a message to everyone logged in that turned the "trade chat" option on from their menu). i didn't think there was anything like this for SL or PL.

people find ways to abuse any system. anyone could still be reported even if they are in the trade chat, and people could turn it off if they aren't interested. i just thought that this would be a good thing for merchants

haha, I do use the auction house constantly and do good there. considering other games already do this, why not have a trade channel you turn on and off?

I'm just jk, personally I have never made lots of money there anyways, you have a great idea.

this is a great idea
sellers and buyers could go to a merchant base to look for and sell things
it would be convenient

most people like me use the channel more than the auction house
but DO try to control spamming

it can be very annoying so try to control your time to bout 5 to 10 seconds per yell

I never did till recently and you can make a lot of money there. It's also something else to occupy time when i'm bored with runs

It wouldn't be enforced "merchants only" simply implied that if you go to this area, prepare to be spammed with sales. If you need to make a sale or buy an item, then this is the place to go. People there who aren't there for sales will have to deal with it or go to another world.

Ahh i see. I read it wrong, I thought it was a "merchants. Only" area. So it's kinda like a Auction room, that isn't directly attached to Blackstar, so sales can be spammed without bothering the rest of B*, right?

Lol, first you will never see me condoning blatant spanning. i should edit out the OP bc the option for a trade chat you can turn on and off from the menu would make a merchant town obsolete
