Don't they have to wait will Apple confirms the update? meaning even devs like you said energi, devs only guess that around mid-late feb it will be released. :-)

Only if they release a new game client. Most of the time that is not needed and we only need a regular update. But if they are changing something extensive, like the skill tree or something like that, then perhaps they will need a new client as well.
