Thorn Wall...Is it worth it???

Hi,

I have 1 point in Thorn Root and I was looking at the Thorn Wall skill description, 1 damage per sec.... Whats the point?

Is this actually a skill worth investing in?

i dont even use it for any damage, i use it to freeze entire groups of enemies in place
i only use thorn root for the dodge debuff since thorn wall gets so many more people.

that and to have more nature strike combos with a mage's lightning

The nature strike is insane aoe damage with the wall so yes, please get it and please use it. Make killing a LOT faster.

Great stuff. If there are two mages in your group and you're the only bird, you can alternate between the two and they take turns casting lightning. Massive Nature Strike damage quickly enough that the cool-down isn't a problem. We did AO2 with 3 mages and two birds yesterday and just blew through the whole thing (well, the Sobek/two D'Jinn room took a little longer.

I've been wonderin this, too. I know it's important to have the skill, but how many points should be invested in it? Archers have so many great skills, it's hard to choose what not to max out. (I've saved a few points until I can determine the best way to use them)

Yeah lesrider I was thinking that aswell, I asked a level 50 archer who was very good and he had maxed thorn wall. I have already maxed the better archer skills and would rather max thorn wall than blinding shot so i think I might aswell

Definite minimum 1 point in it.

As a mage, I just love seeing birds spam thorn wall. Makes my lightning actually do way more damage.

Do more points cover a bigger area? I have o ly one point in it, and it seems other birds cover more ground with theirs.

I thought all the upgrades did was +2mm per upgrade, I wasn't aware it did more damage.

I think they're fixing all the skill descriptions in 1.6, so I guess I'll wait till then before using up my skill points. I have a few left on my bear and Mage, too, go figure.

Correct if I'm wrong, but I believe thorn wall's area of effect maxes out at 4. afterwards, the fifth point is just extra dmg.

I have it maxed out and at level 5 it has a pretty good range (skill description says 10M). It does a bit of initial damage too. I've seen like 150 or so on lower mobs.
