Dear friends,

as I am loosing my fight with the support, the time has come to say goodbye.

I feel deeply disappointed from the actual outcome. I can not share the actual conversation with the support as it would break the forum rules.

I met a lot of nice and cool people within this game so its sad I am forced to leave. I am not interested in average gameplay, my passion was leaderboard and timed runs (hereby thanks to all who ran with me, especially Lonak, Aze, Hali, Falm, Paddo, Origin and other pro players, you know who you are). I might log here and there to say hello though as I would be missing you guys. But my PRO days are obviously over :)

Silly me I thought I would be treated with at least some respect since I was supporting this game (with a little break ) since it`s release.

Take care and wish you more luck than I had in any disputes you might have with these guys (chances are you`ll never win :D )

I'm sorry that you feel let down by the outcome. As with everything in life, there are multiple different viewpoints. We took a good chunk of time yesterday pulling up server history from saved backups to track down exactly what happened to your items. I know you don't like hearing it, but it is the truth and our viewpoint. I would love to give you your items back, but to be fair and consistant, we do not return items that were traded under such circumstances.

Unfortunately, we see such issues all too commonly. It is why we have been working to raise the awareness on account security with more forum, in-game and social media communications.

At the end of the day, I can only wish you all the best for everything the future holds for you.

sam I am really still confused. smurfinas first support ticket you guys proclaimed that there was no evidence of him having mythic items. you look further back and see them traded? im just a little confused. how is there no evidence one day and then you find it but have to look further back than you already have. he put his first support ticket in immediately when he lost. how did you find trade further back? and how much further back was this trade? still many questions I have. and still worried that there is a bug in the game. which is the best way to protect my gear?

The item tracking logs that support initially looked at were not complete and didn't include a snapshot of Smurfina actually having the items. So, from our Support Team's initial take, it looked as is they didn't have those items. Unfortunately, we do get a number of people who contact us with made up stories asking for rare and powerful items. It is unfortunate that the initial information that the Support Team had access to wasn't complete. It would have been better for all involved if they were able to say exactly what happened with the items on first contact. Given the additional follow up about the items, we went looking. As I mentioned in my earlier post, H2N, Dracknor and null_void spent a good amount of time (hours) digging into the issue with the logging and pulling up backups to find out what happened.

Again, I wish that things had turned out differently. To stay consistent with our policies, we do not reimburse items under such circumstances. Any action we may take on other accounts is private and not something I am at liberty to discuss.

Those items out of his account or whatever happen to them weren't an intentional trade by the actual owner, why is it that ...you guys just can't take those items out of the player who the items were traded to back into smurf account and possibly banned the character who May have hacked into his account?

If these following trades really did occur then there must be a proof that smurfina didn't sell it aka no gold transferred to smurfina acc, and given those items were traded as "freebie" to the account who hacked him ?

.. You can keep whatever you need to keep privately in regards to action taken to the other account who hacked smurfina all you want.. But I think it's a fair solution to take the items from the hacker and transfer back to smurf. Either way no items are being duplicated here. I'm sure you guys can easily confirmed that this other account is not the same as smurfina.. If that's your main concern.. "As an attempt of duplicating items" as you know a lot of other people attempt to claim something in hopes of getting items back they never lost"

What set of circumstances that led up to that trade happening, we don't know.

The bottom line is that we won't give those daggers back. Sorry. We are very concerned about policies that could lead to the duplication of such items and in turn lead to an erosion of the game economy. That's why we don't give such items back under such circumstances.

Your best defense against such issues: ensure your account credentials are known by you and you alone.

Sorry, but again, there was no data intrusion on our end. Whatever security breech there may have been is your responsibility. Again, we don't know what happened, but we do know that your account used the gift command to give those daggers away.

Unfortunately, such issues are not uncommon. They are usually a result of sharing accounts. I don't know what specifically happened in Smurf's case, but again, your best defense against such issues: ensure your account credentials are known by you and you alone and that only you and you alone have access to your device.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we were able to figure out why we initially didn't have access to the records of what happened to Smurf's items. The gift command was used to give them to another character.

A bit of background. I originally got into the gaming industry as a GM providing Customer Support for Sony's EverQuest back in 2000. I've been working with online gaming communities (pretty much always MMORPGS) since then. I have seen my share of account and item issues (to say the least).

We have gone down the route of reversing a trade in the past. Let me give you an example (changed from the real happening, but you'll get the idea).

So say we remove the items in question from player B and return them to player A. Player B then comes back with screenshots from Kik messenger showing they had a deal to trade the items for real money. Player B also includes a paypal reciept and is now claiming that the original guy is doing this to steal money from people. Now who's the bad guy? Who do you believe? Are the screenshots fake? We don't know who those handles are in the Kik chat or who those people are from the Paypal receipt. Then we're just banning both accounts because we have reason to believe that they are involved in real money trade, which is in violation of the Terms of Service.

Things can get very messy very quickly. All we really know is that this account traded their items away. We do not arbitrate trade disputes as per The Spacetime Reimbursement Policy: http://support.spacetimestudios.com/customer/portal/articles/962029-reimbursment-return-policy

Plus, all of this is a huge time expenditure for a case. All of our customer contacts are very important to us. We have a constant queue of customers who need help with all sorts of things like transactions that didn't go through or their password reset, or their Free Platinum Offers not working or lots of other things. It isn't sustainable for us to take hours of investigation and correspondence with one case, as much as we would like too.

I don't really know what happened with Smurfo. I wish I did. As I have stated to you Smurfo several times in private messages, I'm sorry and I can only ask for your understanding.

But there's no item duplication here!? Why didn't you reply to my post lol.. I'm just saying Sam.. There's no item duplication here.. It's a simple act to reverse the trade bec it's clear that the owner never meant to sent it out or had no whatsoever intentions and may possibly not even him.. Which I know you guys are clear of but I do understand that you're sticking to your policies.. But it's an easy fix that there won't be any duplication.. Meaning deleting one from that character (who te daggers were traded to) then moving it back to smurfs. I don't see no attempt of duplication there and you guys know he wasn't trying to duplicate.. Your argument of "we don't know his intentions a" I don't think is a strong enough argument. On another thought...Let's say he attempted duplication.. No stg has been pretty good on hackers and cheats ( preferred to other games ) but this is really unfortunate that one of are respected players had gear taken / traded/ for some reason that we will probably never know...Me as a AL player has felt safe but now makes me worry and hope to god this don't happen to me :( maybe as a guild we can find a way to raise gold for new daggers for smurfina.. - Do not kill guildie with flag.
- If someone asks you to not kill them we can't stop you, but it's usually expected you comply.
