Lag/FPS issues on iPhone 3g?

My gameplay is never smooth on my old iPhone. Ping is normal, I think. mid 2's, most of the time. But it's so laggy...like frames per second are horrible. Pvp is pretty much out of the question and running pve is tough.

Does anyone else encounter this issue? I think I have my settings set for minimal graphics...is there some way to resolve this? Is the hardware on a 3g just so outdated that there's no solving until I upgrade?

Yeah, it seems as if PL runs more smoothly on 4g Ipods/ Phones and the new Ipads...My girlfriend has the same problems on her iTouch 3g...I'm guessing it's the power of the processor on the devices. IMO comparing my iPhone 4 to my Ipad....iPhone beats the pad hands down in terms of graphics and the gameplay framerates...But yes, if you do upgrade, or try to find a different device to play it on, iPhone 4 hands down, assuming your funds are going to cushion the bills that come with it, it's just beautiful.
