XP Freezing at L51

I'm going to level my bear (drewcapu) last and have frozen him at L51 (with a few xp left til L52).

If anybody is doing the same with any of their chars and wants to farm "low level" BS gear once in awhile, just post which ign you are keeping at L50-51.

I'm open to running any of the levels, although I know my bear will be pretty useless vs Roach

I'm thinking GF, K/Q, and Trash Heap are the best levels to go for these purposes.

Side dungeons (Bank Vault, Fetid) are open for this also. If people don't want to bother with pink items and just go for greens and purps (and the occasional recipe), the side dungeons might be the best way to go.

I think the idea for Drew was simply to farm level 51 BS gear. Personally I am freezing a mage at 50 because I love the level 50 gear, and have two other high level mages (one already on the way to 56). Basically Triada will be my level 50 twink

If I parsed the grammar in that last one correctly, it's important for PvE because it affects drops. In the Sewers, item levels are based on the maximum level of a party member. So a group of all 51s (or is it 52s?) or lower will get level 51 drops, 53s (54s?) or lower will get level 53 drops, and everyone else will get level 55 drops.

I think 52 still gets 51 drops, and 54 still gets 53 drops. I got a 53 drop when I was 54. So you could go one lvl higher.

This is a rare occurrence, and I would say you got this by joining a game late, where the other players were under 53. What happens is the boss 'level' is decided when it is targeted, so if a player joins after the boss is being attacked, they will not effect the level of the drop. Note that if all players get wiped or the boss is pulled far enough to 'reset' then he will get the ~new~ level.

Could it have to do with the threat level?

Unless a group is somehow rushing a BS map, threat level probably won't come into play with the boss' drop level.

I imagine threat level might/can come into play in Fetid where a farming group would typically just go straight to Noxious, which could/would cause a L51 group to drop a higher level item. Very similar to a L10 group dropping L11 items in DF1 if they don't clear enough. I haven't been in a L50/51-only Fetid run in a long time, so this is just a guess. It should be pretty easy to see where the clearing cut-off would be, if there is one, for Fetid.

I got a level 53 Mega Mage Gem Star wand when I was level 54.9 or so. I had been in the game from the start I believe.

Meh, I have a 52 (maybe 53), two 55s. I probably won't freeze any of them, but I do have 2 level 50s I'm not planning on leveling, so if ya guys ever need a tank or a Mage, I got em.

Yes, 54s get 53 loot. It isn't if you surpass a loot point (51, 53, 55) I think it is just until you hit the next one. Which makes more sense so you can use the item. (granted everyone in your party is at the same level, or below your level)

It's been so long since I've been in a run that didn't have any L55s. haha

I'll try to find some <=L52 runs tonight since my mage and bird are L52 and see how that goes.

I'm freezing at 50. It will probably be a big twink level later on. Although, my level 50 is my main, and the closest to him is 35. I really do hate leveling...

Yeah, I need to level a bunch of toons for new parking levels. Haven't got that far yet. LOL. Too much new stuff to look at and not enough time.

As for boss levels, for Beargular, I have my mage rush him a lot, to freeze his level before others show up. Mostly that worked and his threat level would be yellow vs red. He's easy to do w/ level 50 mage though a bit more damage is good. Guess can't use him for recipes anymore. Or any of the minibosses. Sooo sad.

Might be something interesting to do w/ various bosses before inviting others to join, if you find yourself alone in a game.

Doing the same with my current 46 pally once king gets to 56. Only 8 more days!! (If i keep on schedule)
