Sup peeps,
So I have heard from alot of people that level 30 is just forgotten bows and luck, well I am here to tell you otherwise. I have experiemented with over 30 different builds and countless gear set ups to perfect the 30 mage.
Do I have the perfect build yet? no, but I am getting there.
This is information that took a long time to compile so I hope it helps get some more people to level 30 pvp.
STR, DEX, INT? or Pally?
Pally: If you going pally (commonly STR/DEX or STR/INT with STR set) then expect to lose fights by running out of mana, or not dealing enough damage. Sure you can tank but you can't do any damage and that leaves you very vulnerable.
Full DEX: This is a popular build at this level, it gives high damage but no mana regen which leaves you defensless after 1-2 fights forcing you to be an easy kill or have to rejoin.
Full INT: not too bad but this confides you to using only int items which are hard to kill with due to lack of hit % and damage.
So each of these builds has faults, but there is one that has minimal.
Proposed build: 50 DEX Rest INT. This way you can equip a pumpkin chunker for extra damage power or you can equip a INT set for some super tanking power.
BUILDS
The best Build that I have used are support builds, these are high damage, high heal and revive builds. this way you can support your team with dependable help through games specifically CTF.
Here are two of my most used builds.
This is not an amazing 1v1 build, but a great CTF support build, pair this with a monkey paw/ brainfreeze wand set/ or frog wand set and you will be an unstoppable healing/reviving nightmare for the other team
This is a great overall build, you can do both the tanking with a wand set or switch to a chunker against fbows for Damage action.
GEAR
Chunker: Use this when 1v1 against forgotten mages or birds. Try to take advantage of your extra range, time your drain and heal right and it will be a easy win for you.
Helm: Dreamers Elven Helm (Level 25)
Weapon: Gruesome pumpkin chunker (level 30)
Armor: Brainfreeze Yeti Cloth
Brainfreeze Wand: Use this against bears or when you are tanking (If you cant afford the level 30 frog wand, this is a great tanking tool (meaning you can survive alot of hit from the other team while keeping your team alive)
Helm: Dreamers Eleven Helm (level 25) (Crystalline helm works as well)
Armor: Brainfreeze Yeti
Weapon: Brainfreeze Ice Wand
Shield: Brainfreeze Yeti Eye
Frog Wand: This wand has more damage and dodge than the brainfreeze and is a great option if you don't want to be lame with a monkey paw This wand provides great tanking abilities while dealing good damage. (Recommended weapon)
Helm: Dreamers Eleven Helm (level 25) (Crystalline helm works as well)
Armor: Brainfreeze Yeti
Weapon: Mamboza's Frog Wand (Level 30)
Shield: Brainfreeze Yeti Eye
Rings:
For the ring I prefer either the 2% crit with 10 damage, or the 2% dodge with 10 damage. Both work well and will do the job for your support mage.
Face: I chose the Crazy Face just because of the added Crit
COMBOS
For Bears:
Most of the bears you encounter will be forgotten bears. They have one major weakness, once they beckon and stomp they can't deal any more good damage till they are ready to beckon and stomp again. So the goal here is to survive through the skills. Try to heal right after they beckon you then drain>fire as they stomp you. If all goes as planned you will have full health and they will be dead or close to death.
For Birds:
When fighting birds use a Chunker, try to kite them as they kite you. Do combos such as drain>fire>ice and keep them away from you, make sure to heal out of any roots they put you in and use MS if you are getting close to dying.
For Mages:
Your goal here is to make the forgotten mages have to MS. Use a chunker and do a combo such as Drain>Fire>Heal>Ice and if all goes well they will be dead or mana shielded. If they mana shield play cat and mouse and Fire>Ice to knock down their mana (Since they have like no regen) Then the fight is in the Bag
MISC
-Go level 31 since most of the games made at that level are 26 games and the extra skill point helps a ton.
-The reason I use so much INT is because the regen that you get from it saves your life. A mage is useless without mana and that is a problem you run into when you use forgotten.
-Is this build better then a forgotten damage DEX build?: Yes, because you can deal the damage they deal, but you can maintain good regen, and you can heal quicker then a fbow mage can.
Hope this attracts some real mages to 30,
-Griff
