Default Do you trust a merch w/ no forum cred?

I am truly curious as to this, and it was brought up in the chat box today figured hey let's make a thread about it. In the traders section there is a sudden influx of new accounts selling high end items. You can't message them because they don't have 10 posts, yet bunch are posting selling: rings, fossils, red eggs... and not just one item but multiple.

They do not leave their in game name either, you have to leave yours and I guess they message you in the game probably from another random low level toon.

What's the deal? Is this how our plat farmers are selling back to us? Do you trust these people to sell items to you w/o issue? I would like to know what is going on here and if they are clearly doing us wrong.

Thanks Arlorians I look forward to reading your replies.

If they have the products and gold I don't really care.

My thought exactly. But then again, it happens during and after double odds weekend, so there might be nothing wrong at all

People cares but when they need something and have the gold, they won't care the sellers.
Stg just should track ip addresses and imei # and proxies cautiously and carefully.
I used to play some games where the companies used to track them very strictly.

Personally, if i dont know the forum name, i wouldnt trust them

And if they ask for your ign, and don't give theirs, i dont think they're merching.

If you think they can be trusted, trade. Else dont give your ign

I wonder the same thing Candy. It doesn't mean you can't make a deal with these people but I would think they are one of the following two things:

    1. A person that has spent a lot of rl money on this game and want to remain anonymous in their dealings. They don't want to make public all they have spent and acquired and would rather not have people badger them in game. This is very reasonable and understandable.

    2. Plat farmers that need to create new accounts to make their deals.

Either way I would buy from these people if they had an item I wanted. Of course I would use caution as I would with anyone. Be safe when making trades!!

That being said if I were STS I may pay a little more attention to these accounts and see which one of the above two categories they fall into.

The thing about #1 is the majority of people in this category would not be there selling: Ring, fossil, shard, sam, singe... I can see someone in that case making a fake account to sell A ring or A maul.. but not multiple items all in the same post. That doesn't add up for me.

And OK let's say yeah I buy a maul off someone who is a plat farmer. I mean, I don't know he's plat farmer so I'm not doing anything wrong. What I want to know is are you guys or anyone here buying off these fake accounts and it's legit in the game?

Yes these accounts just scream to me something is wrong. I can assume STS can track it and are already on top of it behind the scenes. They don't like being ripped off.

Probably scammers. There are thousands of them in game. Their primary target is black market, where you can buy/sell items and accounts for real money (so it is possible to scam). After scamming, they make sure STS won't trace them and just sell it from fake forum account using fake low level toon. Easy and safe scheme, but easy to notice. I would never trade with such sellers, because if I did, I would help them in this way. Plat farmers do the same, but they scam STS instead of players.

It can always be some random new player who hit it big at the lottery and doesn't have the gold to even list the item. They followed the links and are selling on the forums. As long as they have the item, I have the gold, you double check all everything in the trade window, I don't really care who they are.

As for merchers, I buy and sell stuff through them to save time. I don't have the patience to stand in pier all day and getting "LOL" at my prices and/or my offers.

Again, it's not just ONE item. No one strikes it big with shard, fossil, rings (several), maul, sam, singe... come on...

Mostly it's undercover merchants who wish to lowball and overprice as much as they want. Or shady people who wish to push items aquired by scamming/platfarming.

If you just scammed an arcane ring from someone and you want to get rid of exhibit A, you make a new forum account and use it to sell the ring.

I dont trust anyone and i have no reason to, im not lending them anything im just making an offer, if they have it ill buy it if they dont have it, its nothing but a waste of time.

Another thing candy was smart to mention is plat farmers, a real problem and the absolute biggest threat to AL's economy, these comments get deleted but we all know where all those arcane rings come from.

Undercover merchants is what i believe it could be, for instance the same person has 3 accounts and "trades" amongst the three acoounts by doing so they manipulate prices how they see fit.
