Thanks Candylicks! Our design focus around pets has shifted from simply one-upping our pets like we had previously done because of the ceiling and scale issues over time, and into a more "this is the best pet for how I like to play" option. Every pet has its uses, and we hope the options provide unique combinations in PvE and PvP. Every pet has it's pros and cons, and this is a good thing for game health.
In regards to timed runs and the implications of pet usage, that's a separate issue in our minds. Certainly one we're aware and hope to adjust in the future.
