I was wondering myself what makes Dex mages special... Because I wanted to make one of my other enchantress a Dex Mage but not what makes them special or good.. Any advice would be great!

    Dex Mage:

Lower skill damage than the Pure INT mage.
Higher DPS than the Pure INT mage.
Some says: Dexchantress/Dexmage = Insane damage.
Highest DPS achieved by going Pure Dex but with lowest possible skill damage for Mage.
Really good and balanced Skill damage and DPS: Dual spec or Hybrid (139 dex/int for Dual Spec, 173 dex rest int for Hybrid).

    Hope this is helpful!

Oh cool Tysm! It was really helpful! One last question is do I need 139 in Dex without gear? And then rest in int?
For dual and what's different between hybrid and dual anyway?

The builds is wrote above is lvl 55 builds... 139 dex / 139 int is for dual spec then u need booster gear (Horus I think for dex) to boost ur stats. Then u need a void or death piece (Void is cheapest) to boost ur stats even higher... U should have over 173 dex now and can now equip lvl 55 gear.

For more details about dual specing search for:

I don't use mages often, but fighting them, I see their most deadly aspect is the ridiculous crit they have from their gear and buffs. With firestorm and a long-range weapon, they destroy archers pretty fast if you're not careful.

I am a level 51 Dex/Mage with Seniteles Helmet and Armour and I have around 91 INT or something like that and normally 167 Dex, but with boosts my dex is 199 and all I work on now is INT.

I like being a dexmage for the dodge. The dodge and crit are both nice.

Does anyone know ofba comparison posted on skill damage numbers for Pure Int vs. Pure Dex vs. Dual Int/Dex? OR could share some numbers of the Dex builds...

    Thanks...

IMHO ... the +1 h/s +1 m/s +10 dmg Dex ring is the best option helps make up for skill dmg loss... and well dmg is the whole point of a dex mage isn't it?

I love running with Dex mages, actually I love running with dex-anything, including bears and obviously birds. I'm talking specifically at level 55 while chain running sewer maps with a good team. Here is my reasoning:

Dex mages (or dual spec mages in dex mode) tend to have poor skill abilities, that means, weaker heal and weaker AOE damage. Yes, that is a negative, however, in a good group, killing the mobs up to the boss is never an issue. Generally there is a bear (or some kind of tank) and everyone blows combos. In my experience it only takes 2 DPS in addition to the tank to kill an entire wave of enemies (hopefully beckon/stomped into a small cluster against a wall.) Thus, the negative aspects of a dex mage in a group like this, really aren't negative because the additional AOE firepower or healing isn't even really necessary.

So, then what are the pros? Well, the one huge pro really and obviously is the huge boss killing DPS. The additional boss DPS just makes everything so much faster and smoother. Killing GF with only 1, or possibly no fevers, Queen and King quickly, Trash quickly, Roach before he stacks too many "Roach powers", and King before totem.

The only other thing would be (and this is pretty obvious) why not just bring another bird instead? And the only reason would be basically mega combos and rez protection.

    Quick summary:
I like Dex mages cuz in a good group you don't need the additional AOE power and you get more boss DPS and maintain the ability to do mega combos and rez.

I've found that the Fine Crystal Ring of life is nice. Of course, I favor it on all of my enchantresses. The 3 extra m/s is nice for me because I'm a mana hog

A mage needs about 25M/S to break even + anything extra mana consumed from mana shield. That and the fact that dex mages are squishy are the main weaknesses of the class.
