God did of course stay true to his word that "as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” (Genesis 2:17) In God's perspective, they did die that day, but also consider:

(Genesis 5:5) So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.
And people who think God could not age the planet of His own accord severely underestimate Him. XD
