Good compromise, as others have said. Seems like a win-win for everyone, in relation to the way it is currently. Love the persistant effect, I always hated losing elixir effects if I zoned somewhere, or died.
Sure, some people will complain about the 2x and 3x xp not being available for gold, so get ready for that....but I think this is a good step towards a compromise between costs-of-STS and costs-to-players.
